The Plain Dealer (Cleveland):
"Basile is a combination of
Jackie Gleason, Oliver Hardy and most of the cartoon characters you have seen. He is among
the few comics who does not need material, because watching him is a scream.
Basile, who has appeared on various HBO and ABC comedy venue, would have
done just as well in silent films, or the old radio days, as now.
Basile is a likable nut, not nasty. He always makes himself the foil,
while changing his voice from articulate and measured to nearly broken down in tears as he
explains his various life traumas.
Basile should be in movies, or the center of a sitcom. He has a special
comic presence and a real talent for creating a character."
