Antonio Johnson was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 7, 1972. A
graduate of the University of Louisville, Kentucky, he has a Bachelor's
degree in Communications. At the age of 15, while working at a Burger
King Drive-Thru, he was discovered by a woman who worked for a gospel
radio station. So impressed with his voice, she offered him a job on
the spot. Antonio Johnson has worked in radio ever since,
including gospel radio stations in Memphis, Louisville, San
Francisco, and Dallas/Fort Worth.
Antonio has interviewed Jesse Jackson, Sean
"P. Diddy" Combs,
Penny Hardaway, the Williams Brothers, Melba Moore,
Les Brown,
Usher, Shaq, Bishop T.D. Jakes,
Yolanda Adams,
Beverly Crawford, Prophetess
Juanita Bynum and many more in the music industry and beyond. He is
considered to be one of the best gospel radio announcers in the
country.
An
anointed and obedient man of God who loves the Lord, Antonio Johnson has
been blessed with many opportunities to share God's word.
Everybody who knows him, knows his love for people. This helped him
make a comfortable transition into Christian comedy. He credits God for opening that door
and for his divine intervention in bringing Comedian Bone into his
life. He is ever thankful to Bone for his assistance in helping him to
launch his comedy career. Antonio says, "Comedy is something I
have always felt I could do. God has blessed me to travel and do
just that - make people laugh in a clean, Christian way."
Antonio Johnson has made several TV appearances, including NBC 5 Dallas/Fort
Worth as a host of DFW Gospel Sounds, and on UPN 21 Dallas for the local
UNCF telethon. Not only has God blessed him to be gifted in comedy and
as a radio announcer, but it seems he has one more gift, acting. He
shows off his acting abilities in the University of Louisville's
minority recruiting video and in a movie called "Betrayal" with Comedian
Bone, taped in Los Angeles. He played a leading role in the gospel play
"Diva," and had a walk-on role in the gospel stage play "I Won't Be The
Other Woman," starring
Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Pam & Dodi, and Wanda
Nero Butler.
He is ever thankful
for the wise words of his grandmother as she said, "Believe what
God has said about you and not what man has said, and you will always be confident in
whatever you do." No matter where God places him in life, he will always
carry those words in his heart.
