Glenn Frey

In music, Glenn Frey is known as a composer, singer and musician. He was one of the lead vocals of The Eagles and he has made several solo albums.

One of the two pillars upon which The Eagles' legacy proudly sits, Glenn Frey is more known for his contribution to this group than for his solo work which tends to go unrealized. However, you mention songs like 'The Heat is On' and the 'Thelma and Louise' soundtrack and you'll get startled wide mouthed responses.

With a solo career dating back to the Detroit rock scene of the mid-1960s, Glenn Frey began his soiree with music with a band called the Mushrooms in 1966. After the Mushrooms split and Frey's follow-up band, Four of Us, followed a similar fate, he found minor success with a number of Detroit teen bands, before he moved to California in the early 1970s and co-founded The Eagles with Don Henley. The rest of that story is history.

When The Eagles disbanded in the wake of 1979's "The Long Run," Glenn Frey began a solo career in 1982 with "No Fun Aloud," notching a pair of Top 40 hits with "I Found Somebody" and "The One You Love."

1984's "The Allnighter" spawned the hit "Smuggler's Blues," which subsequently inspired an episode of the hit TV series Miami Vice on which Glenn Frey guest-starred. Other ill-advised acting roles saw his rapid return to music and the highly successful 1985 Top Ten smash "The Heat Is On," a single released from the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy comedy Beverly Hills Cop.
