Humble beginnings marked the start of a mission that would effect thousands across the country. Three young girls, singing at any opportunity, began a service that allowed them to share a secret with any that would listen.
A three-peat of home run hit albums have rocketed the
combined sales of Out of Eden into the seven-figure club (million
plus copies sold), and sibling members Lisa Kimmey, Andrea Kimmey Baca,
and Danielle Kimmey have shared stages with such pop icons as Destiny's
Child, The Pointer Sisters, and
Monica. They
have also performed with other stars such as
Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans,
Fred Hammond, Billy Graham,
John P. Kee,
Shirley Caesar,
Virtue!,
Anointed, Ralph
Bell Crusades, Scott Dawson, and Josh McDowell.
Out of Eden's albums have always captured the most superb
elements of pop music, tuned and tweaked to give the threesome their own
soulful shine.
Out of Eden has the ambition, so tells their art, but the trio
matches their musical drive with a spiritually-minded,
socially-conscious sensitivity. Lisa explains, "We want to set the
standard as a voice, a truly positive voice, that isn't contradicted by
our music or appearance. People know what's real and what's not, and
they will identify with us by what we say and do."
The group's proactive slant, which has resulted in several shared stages
with none other than the Reverend Billy Graham himself, comes through
clearly in their writing.
Their ever-growing vision has positioned the group in many
high-profile situations, from opening slots on major arena tours to
placing songs in such screen successes as Eddie Murphy's "Dr.
Doolittle," "Christina Aguilera's
Diary," "The Chris Rock Show" and actually appearing on the primetime
UPN show "Moesha" (starring Brandy). Likewise, the group has scored key
radio success, major video rotation on BET, and several major magazine
features and cover stories, including "Upscale," "Black Elegance,"
"Sound and Spirit" (BMG), "Hype Hair," "Sister 2 Sister," "BRE," and
"Gospel International."
In today's nervous pop world, artists try everything from tighter
clothes to hair dye to inking their arms in hopes of faking artistic
growth. Out of Eden, on the other hand, have fought forward,
producing nothing less than a revolutionary roadmap showing that
post-Mickey Mouse Club pop was nothing more than the first stroke on a
vast blank canvas.
