Meet the
Former Ladies of the Supremes

Lynda Laurence:

Lynda joined The Supremes in 1972 debuting onstage as their lead singer at the prestigious H.I.C. Arena in Hawaii. A native of Philadelphia, Lynda started singing at the age of four under the guidance of her father Ira Tucker – lead singer of the legendary Dixie Hummingbirds gospel quartet. She started her association with Motown by recording with Stevie Wonder and was featured on the hit "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)." Lynda continued to record and tour with Stevie for several years as manager and lead vocalist of his backing band.

Some of her other musical associations include James Brown, Joe Cocker, Ringo Starr and Harry Hilsson. A talented musician and singer, Lynda, like Scherrie, is also featured on all of The Supremes numerous hits collections. "Our association with The Supremes is synonymous" commented Lynda.

Scherrie Payne:

Born in Detroit, Michigan, the home of Motown, Scherrie Payne is officially recognized as The Supremes' final lead singer, featured on many of their hits including "He's My Man" and "I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do the Walking." A talented writer and performer, she was discovered by famed producer Eddie Holland (Holland/Dosier/Holland) when he heard her singing with her sister Freda Payne.

Before joining The Supremes, Scherrie was lead singer of the group Glass House and is featured on all of their hits for the Invictus label including "Crumbs Off the Table." She recorded for Motown as a solo artist during the 80's and had her own hits including "I'm Not In Love" and "One Night Only."

Scherrie has worked with many major stars including George Benson and Jose Feliciano. Known affectionately as the "little lady with the big voice," she brought her superb vocals and electric stage presence to The Supremes in 1973 and very quickly established herself as a firm favorite with the group's legions of fans worldwide. Scherrie is featured on every one of The Supremes' Greatest Hits collections issued around the world, and continues to authentically perform as a Supreme – keeping the group's music and image alive.
