Masterful songwriting, silky vocals and emotive
lyricism are just some of the elements that have brought critical
acclaim and success to R&B singer/songwriter/producer Montell
Jordan.
When he arrived on the international music scene in
1995, Montell cut a striking figure with his burnished good looks and
athletic, nearly 7-foot-tall physique. He immediately thrust himself
into the history books with his multimillion-selling debut smash
"This is How We Do
It," the first Def Jam R&B record to
reach #1 on the pop charts, where it stayed for seven weeks.
His second album, "More...," soon
followed. This album (gold-certified) featured the track "I
Like," which was also featured on "The Nutty Professor
Soundtrack." Funky yet elegant, "More..." solidified
Montell's reputation as an innovative talent. "On the second
album I went from the leather jacket and backward cap to the Armani
suit," Montell explains. "I really welcomed the opportunity
to show people that I'm a true R&B artist."
Since then, the artist has released four other gold
singles, toured with the likes of Boyz II Men,
TLC, and Mary
J. Blige.
With the release of his third album entitled "Let's
Ride," Montell Jordan continued his seemingly effortless
climb into the pantheon of musical greats. "Let's
Ride" is a
modern funk marvel, a contemporary R&B classic that echoes the
work of Marvin Gaye, Al Green and The
Isley Brothers. Indeed, the album reestablished Montell as one of
the most talented singer/songwriters in contemporary pop.
