Nipsey Russell, Comedian Every season since his first appearance on "The Tonight Show," Nipsey Russell's wit and poetry enlivened game shows and celebrity panels – to the delight of television viewers.

His one-man special ran on Comedy Central and he made appearances on "Viva Variety." On the HBO docu-comedy "Mo' Laughter," Nipsey functioned as narrator, analyst and performer Re: "The Black Experience in Comedy History."

In daytime television, Nipsey hosted "Your Number's Up," a 13 week interlude of game shows for NBC-TV. Possibly one of his proudest achievements was his three years as M.C., Mirthmaker, and Kiddie interviewer on the cable stanzas of Barry-Enright's "Juvenile Jury" for satellite cable cast on B.E.T.

Television soap provided further exploitation of Nipsey's talents as a dramatic actor. He appeared on CBS's "As The World Turns" and he did a recurring role on NBC's "Search For Tomorrow." He played the love-in-the-afternoon thespian.

Nipsey held the long-run record as night club performer. He established it during the years that he held forth resident jester, folk philosopher and humorous observer of life at New York's Club Baby Grand. The stars and super stars of show-business came repeatedly to see his performances. They became fans and his word-of-mouth press agents.

Nipsey Russell will be missed.
