Matt and Kim (sometimes stylized MATT and KIM) are an American indie electronic duo from Brooklyn, New York City, consisting of Matt Johnson (vocals/keyboards) and Kim Schifino (drums/vocals). The group formed in 2004.

They met while studying at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and began making music together in 2004. The duo gained popularity with their energetic live performances, catchy melodies, and DIY aesthetic.

In 2006, Matt and Kim self-released their debut album, "Matt & Kim," which featured upbeat tracks like "Yea Yeah" and "5K." Their infectious sound and jubilant stage presence quickly garnered attention, leading to opportunities to perform at music festivals and gain radio play.

In 2009, they released their sophomore album, "Grand," which included the hit single "Daylight." The song's success helped propel the duo into the mainstream, earning them widespread acclaim and landing placements in commercials, TV shows, and films.
