Mavado, born David Constantine Brooks on November 30, 1981, in Kingston,
Jamaica, is a renowned Jamaican dancehall artist. Growing up in the Cassava
Piece community of Kingston, Mavado experienced a turbulent childhood marked by
poverty and violence. However, his passion for music served as a beacon of hope
amidst the challenges.
He

show him the ropes of the music industry and introduced him to his manager,
Julian Jones-Griffith. He decided to name himself "Mavado" after the
Swiss watch company Movado, with his manager altering the spelling.
