Spoon is an American rock band from Austin, Texas, consisting of members Britt Daniel (vocals, guitar), Jim Eno (drums), Alex Fischel (keyboards, guitar), Gerardo Larios (guitar, keyboards) and Ben Trokan (bass, keyboards).

The band was formed in late 1993 by the lead singer and guitarist Britt Daniel and the drummer Jim Eno, after the two met as members of the Alien Beats.

The name Spoon was chosen to honor the 1970s German avant-garde band, Can, whose hit song "Spoon" was the theme song to the 1985 movie Jagged Edge (Das Messer) in the United States.

Eno describes Spoon's music as "psychedelic". Critics have described the band's musical style as rock, pop, art rock, and experimental rock.

In 2005, they performed at Lollapalooza along with artists such as Billy Idol, CAKE, Dashboard Confessional, Hard-Fi, The Black Keys, Weezer, Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie, Drive-By Truckers, Kasabian, Tegan and Sara, The Killers, and Widespread Panic.

In 2015, the band played at the Bonnaroo Music Festival with others including Glass Animals, Alabama Shakes, Royal Blood, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Tears For Fears, Kacey Musgraves, Ben Folds, Clear Plastic Masks, Hozier, My Morning Jacket, Gregory Alan Isakov, X Ambassadors, Twenty-One Pilots, Florence and the Machine, Billy Joel and Brandi Carlile.

Their discography includes 10 studio albums, four extended plays (EPs), and 26 singles.
