The Used is an American rock band from Orem, Utah, that formed in 2001. 

After releasing their eponymous debut album in 2002, The Used become one of the leaders of their era and have enjoyed much success with many of their albums being certified gold and platinum by the RIAA and selling more than 10 million albums combined worldwide.

On June 25, 2002, their self-titled debut album, produced by John Feldmann, was released to critical acclaim. The album featured the singles: "The Taste of Ink", "Buried Myself Alive", and "Blue and Yellow", with all three entering the charts and the album being certified platinum. They went on to play Warped Tour, Ozzfest, and Projekt Revolution, as well as Box Car Racer's first and only tour.

In 2007, The Used played the Reading and Leeds festivals along with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Panic! At The Disco, Angels and Airwaves, The Shins, and Paramore. The band went on to tour the United States in September. Lies for the Liars charted in the top five in more than seven countries and featured the singles: "The Bird and the Worm" and "Pretty Handsome Awkward".

In October and November 2017, the group went on a headlining US tour with support from Glassjaw. The band also promoted their new album, The Canyon, with acoustic performances at Huntington Beach, and Amoeba Music. Shekoski and McCracken were praised by Rolling Stone for their "powerful acoustic performance."

In December 2022, The Used performed at the Audacy Beach Festival with other artists including Muse, Jimmy Eat World, Jack White, The Maine, Machine Gun Kelly, The 1975, Talk, Phoenix, Giovanni and the Hired Guns, Wheatus, Dashboard Confessional, Mayday Parade, Andrew McMahon, and Yungblud.

The Used has been described as emo, post-hardcore, punk rock, screamo, alternative rock, pop punk, hard rock, and heavy metal.

Their discography includes eight studio albums, two live albums, one compilation album, three extended plays, one demo, three video albums, twenty singles and twenty-seven music videos.
